Scott Lindsey will use York City's unexpected two-week break for player recovery and his own tactical analysis. The head coach confirmed the plan after Saturday's match against Barnet was postponed due to international call-ups.

Lindsey said the squad has earned a rest after a demanding start to the season. "We're going to rest and recover everybody," he stated. He gave players additional time off at the start of this week before preparations resume later in the week for the next fixture.

"What it will mean is that I've got more time to analyse, that's all it means," Lindsey added. He did not take time to relax himself during the break, focusing instead on studying the team and their upcoming opponents.

Postponement details

York's League Two fixture against Barnet was one of four in the division called off this weekend. The postponement was triggered because three Barnet players were selected for international duty, leaving the Bees unable to field a team.

Focus turns to Northampton

York will now turn their attention to a home match against Northampton Town. That game is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, with a 3pm kick-off at the LNER Community Stadium.

The break comes after a positive 3-0 victory over Gillingham last Saturday, a result engineered by Lindsey. That win helped York maintain their position of 6th in League Two, with 14 points from their opening eight matches.

Lindsey has been in post for nine weeks and noted the effort from everyone at the club in that time. "Everybody in the building has worked extremely hard for the nine weeks since I've been here, everybody has put a shift in," he said.

The team's recent form reads two wins, one draw and two defeats from their last five outings. They face a Northampton side currently sitting 22nd in the table. All preparations will be geared towards that contest, with Lindsey confirming the squad will work hard over the coming weekend.

York City will resume training later this week ahead of the Northampton Town match on October 10.
